This month, the winner has a prime example of Mopar muscle in its glory years. James Ray’s 1974 Dodge Challenger was pretty epic to begin with. Yet, that didn’t stop him for installing a slew of restoration and performance upgrades. As is the case with most 70’s cars, the interior was in need of serious work. Ray reupholstered the front seats, put in new carpeting and replaced the headliner.
After saving up for a while, the next stage was body work and paint restoration. Preliminary tasks included repainting some interior components and cutting out the lower rear wheel panels. After about a month, it was time to install the heart of it all: engine and transmission. Say hello to the 340 4-speed that now resides under the hood.
While the car has come an incredibly long way, Ray wants to continue on in the future. He plans on new bumpers, new TTI headers and aims to repaint the valve covers.
