Season 2: Episode 7
Ford Mustang BBK Intake Kit & SCT Programmer Installation
Aired: May 15, 2009
Posted in: Accessories, All Episodes, Cars, Electronics, Performance, Season 2
MOTORZ shows you how to install a cold air kit from BBK Performance on a 2008 Ford Mustang GT, tuned with a programmer from SCT Performance.
Episode Synopsis
This was our one year anniversary episode, episode #24! We opened up the shop to our viewers, and about 50 of them watched us shoot the episode live via webcam and interact with us via live chat. It was a blast! And yes, the birds were chirpin’ in this episode due to some birds that decided to build a nest under the eve of our home! Tweet tweet! Maybe they’ll follow us on Twitter after they leave their nest?

Please note that the BBK Performance cold air intake kit (CAI) #1736 is designed to replicate the stock mass air sampling area of the factory Ford air box. There is no tuning required, according to BBK.
One thing we forgot to mention in this episode is to disconnect your negative (-) battery terminal before beginning.
MOTORZ viewer Robb noted that if you encounter rubbing with the hose clamp screw and your hood liner, to turn it to the side.

first view, i like you vids guys. why did you do this second vid though?, did you uninstall the intake then unistall the C&L tune then re install the CAI with the fastlane tune?
August 14th, 2009 at 3:27 am
We made a few changes to the initial version to be less confusing about the custom tune from Fastlane Incorporated. Since YouTube doesn't allow anyone to update a video, we had to re-upload it and delete the old one. Thanks everyone for their comments and views!

Do you think this will work on a 2005 v6 also? May sound stupid but I want to make sure before I invest. Thanks.

Simple for some extra power, I cant wait for the new 5.0 Stang engines, 400 HP!
Wish I can buy a mustang!

I just ordered a BBK CAI for my 2008 V6 stang, w/o a tuner (would have gotten tuner but i didnt have the extra $200) its a good way to get a few extra HP and it sure can't hurt. americanmucle(dot)com is a great site to buy anything you could want for a mustang
August 14th, 2009 at 3:30 am
what about the v6 08 mustang do i need the tuner, because in the sites( BBK and K&N) where they sell the intakes it says it doesnt need any tuning

You dont have to leave the SCT plugged in correct, you can unplug it once the tune is finished ?

Cool vid thanks for the recommendation

I think that was the most simple install for an intake I've ever seen. I thought my old '03 Eclipse GS had the most simplest install. Even though he's a mechanic he obviously has no clue how power adders work. He ain't going to get anywhere near 35hp and 47lbs of torque from just those 2 upgrades. He probably got 15hp and similar torque at peak power. Throughout the powerband he might've gained nearly 30lbs of torque through different RPM points but not at peak power, no way.

SCT makes a great tuner
September 29th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
Nice vid! :-)
Did you notice a big difference after the CAI and Tune?!
September 29th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Yes, it was a substantial difference! Definitely worth the tune in addition to the intake.
September 29th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Sweet!!! thanks alot!! i know what ill be buying myself for Christmas!!! lol Thanks! :-)

Wow, a good deal to get some more hp and torque out the engine. I'll definately have to do this when I get my '11 GT
