another trick to make the cover install easier is to get a real long bolt with the same threads as the diff and cut the head off. Then slide the cover on it and you wont need to mess around with bolts and smear the rtv and ruin the "gasket"

Turboguy, that is an AWESOME suggestion! Thanks!

Not sure if u need it with the Royal Purple gear oil but u should mention that if it's a limited slip you need to add friction modifier to it, and with those super duty rears it's a good idea to put in 2. Good video, altho i can't imagine taking that cover off and on with a regular ratchet. Def would be using air tools! Love my 3/8" gun!

I am not all that smart when it comes to working on my vehicle. I know the basics and some more in depth projects. I have a ford f-150 2001 with the 5.4, and was wondering how I go about figuring out what kind of differential i do in fact have. My owners manual, I think has options for 3 different ones, how do I know which it is???

@40sigsauer You can look at the ID tag that is on the differential itself. It’s a metal “tag” with numbers on it. If it’s not easy to figure out just by looking at those numbers which size you have (usually it tells you), you can Google it to decode it.
