Episode Notes
This SEMA-special episode is 7 of 9 episodes we filmed while in Las Vegas at the 2009 SEMA Show. Promoted as an eBay Motors workshop titled “Mastering Installation Videos”, Chris Duke and his Motorz TV crew installed a total of nine products over the course of three days, November 3-5 in Vegas.
Even though Motorz TV Season 2 ended at the end of September 2009 (Season 3 begins in January 2010), this event gave us some great new content to publish between seasons.
In this episode I show you how to install a really cool product from Classic Design Concepts that replaces the factory hood prop rod with two gas-charged struts. Opening and closing your hood couldn’t be easier with this simple modification! And there’s no drilling as it uses factory bolt locations for installation.
Product Information
The CDC Hood Strut Kit is an engineered component that eliminates the need for a factory hood prop rod and is designed to work on all 2005-2010 Mustangs.
– The gas-charged struts are OE quality, and the laser cut steel brackets are powder coated and offered in your choice of black or silver.
– The CDC Hood Struts mount at factory bolt locations requiring no drilling
– Simple, functional, clean fit with a custom look.
Music
This episode features music from COLDWEST. “Snakeskinner”, “Ignition”, and a custom MOTORZ TV Intro.
This is my #1 recommended first install for all 2005-2010 mustangs!!! if you plan on doing ANYTHING to your mustang, including window washing fluid, you gotta do this!! Awesome install Chris! – LOVE IT!!
ah nice setup, and a nice easy install, i wish automakers had the old spring assist setups on there cars and trucks still, like they did 30 years ago, but i guess these strut kits supply the demand, ah well i am glad my ’77 F-150 has the spring assist hood hinges stock! it sure makes opening a hood easier, and i can not stand that prop rod, it just seems so cheap to me! anyways great product and video, and hope ya had a great New Years Chris, i think 2010 is going to be a better year!
hey chris duke thank you for the stickers ^^

seem ford should of had that on the mustang already
What does the sound tube canister do?
@rebelrecycler AGREED! Camrys have had them standard for over a decade, it would make sense.
Believe it or not.. Ford put so much engineering into the firewall to keep sound out, that they felt the need to pipe some sound from the intake into the firewall. So that’s what it is… it goes from the air intake over to the firewall. Pretty silly, huh?
Hahaha! That’s rediculous. Next they’ll just eliminate that part all together and play a fake generated sound file over the front speakers and give drivers the option to adjust the volume and bass.

why couldnt they keep hood struts like the old days with big ass springs
With your voice you would make a great radio DJ
@phazon1029 Thank you for the kind words.
@motorztv silly maybe but it does sound sweet when driving though.
would these fit a 2010 ford fusion?
@Pseud0Link They are vehicle specific, so probably not.
are those extension dampers or compression?
