So i recently got my first ford. Thought it was going to be the best decision but.... i have come to find out that im having alot of problems in the month i have owned it. Recently my truck has been running rough not so much at idle but still rough idle. But as i accelerate until around 2K RPMS its rough espceially when in top gear and in overdrive and i try and accelerate a llittle the whole truck vibrates. Im pretty sure its a misfire but i have started replacing the plugs and it is not helping yet. Got to do the back 4 tomorrow cause i could not get a ratchet in there to get them out.

Its a 98 f150 4x4 offroad 5.4L with a CAI--- have also had some leaning out at WOT seems to bog a little and drop RPM's

Any help greately appreciated.

Is your SES light on? If so go to autozone they will pull the code for free. If its P03_ _ then its a misfire: check spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition coil, fuel injector, wiring to fuel injector. The vibration will possibly be your engine mounts. engine is out of balance.

Well i figured because it is probly a misfire that it is out of balance causing it to vibrate. There is no get up and go anymore and no CEL or SES light no codes nothing, i might run by my buddys shop and see if he has a scanner that can read code 6 then i will know

I'm wondering if the mass airflow sensor isn't fowled (seeing's how there's a CAI involved).  Dunno - just a thought.

I would check the mass air flow sensor.  With oiled filters that are common in the CAI they look to mess with the MAF and cause problems just like you've listed.  So go grab a can of mass air flow cleaner from the auto parts store and give it a shot!  Just be very gentle, its very easy to break the sensor.
