@fordtruck0 It actually sounds quite incredible. Great mids, highs, and boom! The head unit’s interface is also very easy to use.
August 6th, 2010 at 10:54 am

August 6th, 2010 at 10:55 am
@motorztv look At the teeth, on the hole cutter when u drill A you go right like you did onece the drill bit is in you reverse the drill to cut the hole.
August 6th, 2010 at 11:01 am

August 6th, 2010 at 11:21 am
@motorztv hell yeah can’t wait.=)
August 6th, 2010 at 11:26 am
Yeah all of your videos are very informative. Do you mostly show how to’s on domestics? Do you do any Hondas?
August 6th, 2010 at 11:34 am
@LatinEM2 The previous episode (spark plugs) we used a Honda, but it’s been mostly a domestics show. There’s no reason for that–it’s just what we have in our stable. I’m hoping to expand a bit in the near future to work on imports and European vehicles.
August 6th, 2010 at 11:41 am

August 6th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
@VitoRocks03 I mentioned that because I’ve done it before :)
August 7th, 2010 at 7:26 am
@motorztv it sure did! even thought I don’t own a Mustang :( I only had a limited budget but for £30 ($40 Approximately) but I still got some nice Coaxial Speakers made by JVC. They sound great too!
August 7th, 2010 at 9:43 am
@HRichmond1995 And you did it yourself so you saved some install cash! Cool!
August 7th, 2010 at 11:47 am
i like how you guys mounted the amps, very accessible and never in the way. You couldn’t have picked a better place.
August 7th, 2010 at 12:58 pm
@motorztv HAHA! I DONE IT TOO!
August 7th, 2010 at 4:29 pm

@seeberg88 Wow, thanks!! What did you like most?
August 7th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
You didnt mention that microSD slot to the right of the CD slot. It would be for media?
August 7th, 2010 at 9:44 pm
@Dj3Dub It is for loading photos to display, like when the head unit first starts (that’s how we got the Motorz logo on it).
August 7th, 2010 at 11:24 pm

August 7th, 2010 at 11:56 pm

August 11th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
@twistedman25 *opening
August 11th, 2010 at 3:00 pm
@twistedman25 I liked them too — but they didn’t tell the viewer what we were going to do in the episode, so we decided on a slightly longer intro that gave more detail. Who knows… maybe we’ll bring it back from time to time! Thanks for watching!
August 12th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
Nicely done! It doesn’t underestimate the amount of work that needs to be done for proper installation! :) Jack
August 12th, 2010 at 8:03 pm
@raconter1 Thanks Jack! I appreciate that comment!
August 15th, 2010 at 11:06 am
i am not being sarcastic, i am just asking, are you sponsored of PIONEER.
August 15th, 2010 at 11:08 am
@Guds777 They sponsored this episode, yes. But they are not a sponsor of the show.
August 16th, 2010 at 10:12 am
can u use a lighter instead of a heat gun?
August 16th, 2010 at 10:22 am
@nardipeter Yes, you can although it’s probably not the best tool.
August 17th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
@motorztv I sure did! Halfords (Bestbuy) wanted about £50 ($70) to fit them. I Think Not! I did it myself and it looks like a very clean install. *Pats himself on the back*
August 17th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
@HRichmond1995 Nice! That’s what it’s all about… saving money, having the confidence that you did it yourself, and even better–if it breaks you know how to remove it and possibly fix it!
August 22nd, 2010 at 7:32 pm
Hi Chris, i have a question for you. I have a 2005 Mustang GT. i have the shaker1000 and on this there is an AUX button, from what i under stand that is for an mp3 or IPOD player. When i push the button it says there is no player hoooked up. i can’t find a jack if there is one. i went to ford and they was dumbfounded like me. do you know where the mp3/ipod port is for the shaker1000? or what AUX button is for? Thanks I love the vids! -Mark
August 24th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
@megalamark Get the P.I.E. FRD04-AUX (Google it for install instructions and more) and once you have that PIE connector in place you can add on an aux unit using its RCA connectors.
September 2nd, 2010 at 6:29 pm
Why didn’t you crank that woofer up man?
September 2nd, 2010 at 6:49 pm
@ponyryda We did and it’s awesome, however we ran out of time in the episode to put it in–some stuff had to be cut :(
September 15th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
@motorztv I have a 2001eclipse but i cant seem to find the hole in the firewall would you happen to know where i might find it
September 15th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
@guinit7659 I don’t have any experience working with that vehicle, but they all have a hole somewhere to fish OEM cables through! Keep hunting… sometimes you can feel what you can’t see, so try feeling around below other parts mounted to your firewall. Good luck!
September 15th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
@guinit7659 Thank you man nice vids keep them coming
September 15th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
@guinit7659 Thanks–we are working hard to produce more!
September 19th, 2010 at 12:12 am

September 28th, 2010 at 5:46 pm

October 4th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
are y’all going to have another project car series like you did with the mustang but different like Chevy?
October 4th, 2010 at 7:28 pm
@IxLeGiTxI We’re still working on our Mustang, and the Jeep. We’d like to have a Chevy in a future season of Motorz! Any suggestions?
October 5th, 2010 at 8:05 am
@motorztv o alright, maybe a cobalt or camaro, cant wait for more videos to come, great work.
October 5th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
@motorztv Camero please :) or Silverado
October 8th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
I’m getting a 2002 mitubishi eclipse gt and i was wondering can i use all of thoes products of pioneer and monster cables you use on the mustang? and btw nice video man 10/10 keep up the good work
October 11th, 2010 at 7:56 pm
I just completed my install on a 2006 Mustang covertible. I installed the exact same set-up with monster accessories. Sounds much better than the shaker 500 system, the pioneer head unit is awesome; with GPS’ touch screen, hand-free sync with iphone, voice control. The subwoofer is great and I like the remote subwoofer control which I mounted under the dash. I had to replace the monster in-line fuse, the monster fuse did not hold up and the replacemnet fuse itself is difficult to find. The system has alot more depth in sound ….. thanks for the video and giving me the confidence to replace the entire system myself. I found all the same components online and the install and accessories cost me around $1200. Well worth it for all the capabilities ….. more then many luxery vehilces.
October 13th, 2010 at 7:46 pm
lol you had the drill in reverse when you were drilling the tweeter hole.. good job though
October 13th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
@zoop425 Thanks for watching! It must have been an optical illusion on video, because it was going the correct direction otherwise I wouldn’t have a hole there :)
October 14th, 2010 at 3:50 pm
hi im trying to install a headunit and i did everything you did however it will not power up after installation however the factory headunit will, i know the problem is not the headunit because it will power on when i hard wire it to the battery, any suggestions? i have a 08 mustang
October 14th, 2010 at 3:53 pm
@andrewevans9560 If there are any inline fuses, I’d check that first to make sure they’re not blown. And if there’s a separate ground wire, make sure that it’s got good contact. On the wiring harnesses, check to make sure all of the pins are straight. If you ran a separate power wire, make sure you have a good 12V power using a voltmeter.
October 15th, 2010 at 10:19 am
@motorztv I’m pretty sure i did not blow a fuse, i checked the fuse on the headunit, the fusebox under the hood, and the fusebox on the passenger side kick panel, every single fuse is intact, and to confrim this, the factory head unit works. I also forgot to mention that i have tried 3 different wiring harnesses and ensured they were the proper ones for my car. Another test i ran was a volt tester on the headunit, all the cables are reveicing 11.9 volts of power. I can not get it to read 12.0.
October 17th, 2010 at 11:41 am
monster cables are pretty much the best in the industry.. i use em all the time
October 18th, 2010 at 6:18 pm
@motorztv when you first start to drill the hole.. anyway im very envious of this.. I want a double din but there is no dash kit for my car!
October 19th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
@DjDBKADerick Yeah, for sure you can use the stuff that was shown here. Just make sure to get the correct sizes. Its pretty straight forward. Good Luck!
October 24th, 2010 at 10:05 pm
Is the mustang you have eqquiped with the six cd changer? I dont know if that effects my type of headunit. I have a 05 mustang with the shaker 1000system.
October 26th, 2010 at 12:05 am
@motorztv for the car suggestions i was thinking a Chevy Camaro maybe
October 26th, 2010 at 11:18 am
when i do this, do i run a chance of triggering the airbag sensors or other things that may damage the car?
November 16th, 2010 at 6:59 pm
i thought you werent supposed to install amp’s upside down… doesnt it fry themselves if you do that????
November 16th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
@PureLegacy I’ve never heard of that… I’ve seen amps mounted vertically, upside-down on headliners, and everywhere else for as long as I’ve seen amps installed in vehicles.
December 6th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
@motorztv The accessory wire location changed in ’07. I had on ’05 with an aftermarket head unit and when I tried to install that same head unit in my ’09 with the install kit from the ‘o5, it did not work. make sure you have an install kit that is specific to the year of your car because the accessory wire that provides power to the unit when the key is turned is in different locations depending on years.
December 18th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
I laughed so hard after the cheesiest, most unexpected thumbs up ever at 8:43
December 21st, 2010 at 6:34 pm
did you use the same aentaa when you did the car kit instaion
December 21st, 2010 at 12:56 pm
Does the system from Pioneer come with a Dash Kit or will you have to buy it separate?
December 24th, 2010 at 5:48 am
Did you use the siruis car antenna that you used for the car kit installu merry chirstmas
December 27th, 2010 at 11:33 am
@PureLegacy don’t install amp upside down. Amp have fins on them to spread the heat out. And hot air raises, Make sure the fin are facing up, not down. You don’t want hot air keep inside your amp.
December 29th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
hey can you please show a video on how you wired the power wire to the battery like where did you go through please
December 31st, 2010 at 3:10 am
i thought you couldnt put amps on metal?
January 2nd, 2011 at 9:21 pm
I don’t want (or need) a new amp. Can I install the same head unit and use the same speakers and equipment from the original shaker 500 equipment?
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:03 pm
did you use the same siruis antenna that you used for the car kit installion
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:43 pm
@doglover201991 Yes, we used the same one that came with the Sirius kit.
January 15th, 2011 at 4:03 pm
Did you take out or disconnect the 8″ door subs that come with the shaker 500? If you left them connected, did you keep the factory amps in the car?
January 15th, 2011 at 6:29 pm
@pujolsfan02 We did not remove them, and they weren’t technical disconnected as we ran our own speaker wires to the amps and the new head unit did not use the old speaker wires at all.
January 23rd, 2011 at 5:37 am
im about to get my first car what are the basics that i need?
February 3rd, 2011 at 12:46 am
what is the size of the speaker wire that you used in this vid
February 6th, 2011 at 7:37 pm
@MrTraxxas2300 I’m guessing 0.
February 6th, 2011 at 7:37 pm
@sycotic51 Get a new head unit to start out with.
February 6th, 2011 at 7:38 pm
@tonymoreau If the amp is really great at dispensing heat, it should be fine.
February 11th, 2011 at 1:37 am
Should I attempt installing a sound system lol? Never done it and dont have all of the right tools xD. Checking youtube vids out first though.
February 17th, 2011 at 6:15 pm
I just watched the whole vid.. And im new at installing head units and car systms.. and you like skiped a LOT when talking about cables… I have a question.. Im trying to learn how to install cables Sub/Amp to head unit.. .And the monster amp kit… What are some good vids that can show me how to…
February 21st, 2011 at 5:50 pm
I wish I knew how to install things on cars. No one ever taught me how.
March 10th, 2011 at 6:38 pm
@motorztv how much would an install like this cost
March 14th, 2011 at 11:24 am
where did you get your vehicle specific wiring harness?
March 14th, 2011 at 11:27 am
@yoyoma3D Crutchfield
March 16th, 2011 at 1:49 pm
Hi , i post this comment with the hope that you will find a answer for my problem .. i have a Seat Cordoba 2003 with a stock cd-player . i have 8 speakers , and I whant to mount a subwoofer and a amplif. my car cd-player is seat alana grundig gh 91 -00 model and i can’t fid a place where i can insert the RCA cable from amplif to cd-player .. is there any options ? or i must change my cas in oder to install the subwoofer ? . Thank you :)
March 18th, 2011 at 11:19 pm
I’m a bit confused on 2 things. The 2nd amp, how do you wire that thing to all of your speakers. Then the rear speakers, did you hook them up with the tweeters or leave the tweeters out?
March 19th, 2011 at 8:13 pm
do you have to have an amp in your car to put in a after market touch screen head unit in your car?
March 19th, 2011 at 9:01 pm
@hockeywall2 Only if you put in a sub or want more power to aftermarket speakers. You can use any head unit with your stock speakers.
March 21st, 2011 at 10:54 am
@hockeywall2 nope u can put any stereo in that car u want
March 25th, 2011 at 9:32 pm
Hi, I have a stock Shaker 500 in my v6 2009 Mustang. My Head unit does not have a RCA hook-up on the back of it. How can I hook up the amp to it?
April 2nd, 2011 at 9:45 am
Lucky that it wasn’t a 2010+ Stang. You have to get a new electronic face plate for the heating/AC controls. And they are not cheap either… And Monster cable is a lot of hype and waaaaay overpriced for what it is. Buy any respected brand and you are fine. Shielding for audio cables is very simple, and even most cheap cables will have shielding for the rca pre-amp signal cables. Shielding does not matter for the power.
April 8th, 2011 at 1:37 am
Can you put more than 1 sub in tothe trunk (Boot in Aus)?
April 22nd, 2011 at 3:28 pm
how much would this cost if i wanted you guys to install all of this
April 22nd, 2011 at 3:33 pm
@tmetm13 You might want to call your local Best Buy or car stereo store. We don’t do installs for anyone :)
April 23rd, 2011 at 6:31 pm
i have no damn clue about any of this but cool you can do a demo with my car anytime pal
April 29th, 2011 at 8:03 am
what did you do with the other speaker that’s in the door? right now i have a pioneer avic d3, Memphis 6×8 in the doors and the trunk and 2 Memphis subs in ported boxes, only one amp and that’s for the subs. i noticed my door speakers rattling and not sounding as good as the used to so ill be replacing them with pioneers, but what should i do with the other door speaker that’s not even hocked up…
May 16th, 2011 at 4:34 pm
@motorztv ive researched a lot since this vid, class D amps wont do that cause of the heat sinks. I get it now, and as soon as Scosche comes out with their 2011 dash kit i shall begin my stereo transformation
May 21st, 2011 at 3:26 pm
why didnt you parallel wire the sub to 2ohms or is a single voice could sub?
June 26th, 2011 at 6:33 am
@motorztv My MTX Audio TNA-251 (250/1) amp sometimes shuts off while I’m driving. I used to have it in my Civic, but now it is in my 06 Stratus. It didn’t do this while I had it in the Civic, so I’m thinking its a problem w/ re-install settings? I can’t seem to find the “manufacturer’s recommended specification” (or w/e he called it) for my amp; do you know the generic settings or where I can find it, if that is indeed the problem? I can explain the problem better in a msg if necessary, btw.
July 3rd, 2011 at 5:04 pm
Well I was expecting a lot more…..you did not show how to remove the rear interior and the most important part how to hide the wires
July 3rd, 2011 at 9:21 pm
@testify221 We didn’t mention it because we mentioned it at 4:20 in our Ford Mustang / Leather install video. We should have referred viewers to that episode. Hiding the wires was fairly easy and straight-forward. We organized them all, zip-tied them up and tucked them out of the way. Thanks for watching!
July 4th, 2011 at 3:29 am
@motorztv ok thanks
July 6th, 2011 at 4:53 pm
This is URGENT!!! I have just bought the pioneer head unit that you guys used in this video but realised that I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT DASH KIT!!! I NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU GUYS GOT THE DASH KIT WHICH ALLOWS THE HEAD UNIT TO FIT PROPERLY!!! If I don’t have the right dash kit it’s £500 wasted on that head unit…
July 6th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
@ThePROD1690 Crutchfield.
July 8th, 2011 at 4:49 pm
This video seems like its more for people who know all the car and audio terminology. not for people like me who dont know a whole lot what they’re doing.
July 13th, 2011 at 3:30 pm
i keep waiting for his wife to come through the house door and say “honey supper’s ready , why are you still doing that filming stuff ?take off that silly shirt and lets eat !
July 13th, 2011 at 3:38 pm

July 28th, 2011 at 10:10 pm
@motorztv Prepare your arse……Crutchfield, while they have some of the best, and not so common install accessories, they make you PAY for it.
September 2nd, 2011 at 6:58 pm

September 2nd, 2011 at 7:12 pm
@LeoLuna2304 Have fun! It’s easier than you think and hopefully our episode will help. Please let us know if you installed it based on Motorz (send us some photos) and we’ll feature your ride on our show which is on TV + Internet.

@SuperFLyTYEr Thank you! If you have DIRECTV or DISH Network, just search for it in your TV Guide. Also check the Motorz TV website (first pulldown menu) for more info.

September 22nd, 2011 at 6:47 pm

October 1st, 2011 at 11:11 am

When you see a car apart on this show. you KNOW something good is happening!
October 8th, 2011 at 11:00 pm
Pioneer is okay… they make good decks. But honestly, you want to go with alpine or JL audio when it comes to amps. And when it comes to speakers, I am definitely not a fan of pioneer. for the money i’d go with Kicker speakers, because they have a nice smooth and clean sound to them. And for subs i’d go JL, Alpine or maybe even kicker, in a nice ported enclosure. Good luck, hope my rant of a comment helps someone! :) hahaha

@moegej No, it plugged right into the new head unit.

I like that you guys show a lot of the install, but some of the cars require FDSRs (for the Ford MSCAN bus) or the radio will shut off @ random. It SHOULD be mentioned. Also, NEVER mount amps upside down without the assistance of an installed fan or external one…especially for a high-power amp that has heat sinks for ventilation. Performance under heavy loads will greatly suffer, distortion may increase, and you’ll cut you amp’s lifetime doing that. Otherwise, good vid.
November 4th, 2011 at 4:41 pm
good video , just a couple things that need to be noted one the amps are not supposed to be mounted upside down reason heat rises! why didnt you guys go with 5×7′ component sets. better sound and well the cut outs are there for them.
November 4th, 2011 at 4:49 pm
another the mounting of the gps antanna shoud be always away from metal and not under the plastic also the antanna cable should be not be tangled like that it causes an inductance you have to do long range loops …. othe how did you do the brake bypass for the video.. ??

Just bought a new head for my mustang, had a previous aftermarket head before. so i have updated wiring harnesses etc. i hook up my new head and it powers on fine but there is no sound, not even a crackle. ive got a mustang 2000 3.8l stock. does it have a stock amp inside that is bad or is it a fuse problem?
December 9th, 2011 at 9:16 am
I don’t know how inlet/outlet connectors work. Somehow they work together. You’d figure individual businesses function separate and don’t know anything about one another. How could all these connectors be rampart in every business when technologies are different. Because their Wall Street!!
December 21st, 2011 at 2:05 pm
Hey, I’m self-installing 4 new speakers, a 10″ subwoofer, an amplifier, and a new head unit in my 2003 taurus. The only thing I can’t find out is the exact hardware(wires, harnesses, etc.) to install all of it. I would apprectiate it is you could give me a list of the things i need Thanks! Great vid btw.

I have a 2008 Mustang v6 Premium with the shaker 500 and I wondering if after installing this in dash nav if your two subs on the doors still work?
March 3rd, 2012 at 2:20 pm
in a mustang 2003 , if I wanna add a sub, do I have to remove the original amplifiers or can I just add another one?
March 10th, 2012 at 12:34 pm
@TheBrandonliteyr the 6×8 speakers produce more bass due to the larger cone size, but the 5-1/2 or 6-1/2 round speaker produces mids and highs better and also has better overall sound quality.

When hooking up the power cable for the audio system, where do I need to hook it at because I tried directly to the battery and it wasnt sending power to my amplifier??
March 21st, 2012 at 9:57 pm
I’d like to know how long the rca cables need to be in my 08 Bullitt so I don’t have way too much slack.

fightnight, a (very good) local shop charges 50/hr, plus pro- rates another 80 bucks to install the stereo head unit. Honestly it’s not that hard at all to DIY, I’ve done…shit I lost count, 5 or 6. You can add after market speakers with stock stereo, but of course with an after market head unit and amplifier they will sound better. For anyone shopping around IGNORE PEAK POWER RATINGS!!! Match your speakers and amps BY RMS power. RMS is rated, peak is often over stated to sell products, especi

Why in the heck would you down size to 5 quarter inch speakers from 6×8 that’s just stupidity. Not to mention pioneer speakers are junk. Infinity’s are the best but I guess if your on this show you have to go with your sponser.

Monster Cable is a bit overkill for a shitty as Pioneer kit xD
May 2nd, 2013 at 6:49 am
that is a shaker system you cant just hook up and aftermarket radio with no problems. the aftermarket radio has a 12v amp turn on and the factory amp is 6v so you have to do a voltage drop using resistors or else you will get a nasty pop when the amp powers on unless you are bypassing the factory amp and adding all new speakers like in the video
May 19th, 2013 at 11:13 am
When you install the radio what do you need to reuse the factory subs on the door?
