Episode Notes
This episode features two installs on our two different 2008 Ford Mustang GT project vehicles. The first install shows how to upgrade your stock underdrive pulleys which slows down accessory speed by about 25% and as a result reduces parasitic accessory drag on the engine and improves performance.
The second install features a massive real carbon fiber dash kit with billet aluminum accessories all provided by Silver Horse Racing.

another great video chris, just a question how exactly do you know when you have properly torqued you screws. for example, the crankshaft pulley need to be set to 66 FT/LBS, how do you know when it has reached that mark, i know its probably a dumb question but i am just curious

iphone is awesome so many uses
May 9th, 2010 at 4:27 pm
Do they make that stick-on-stuff in a wood finish? The carbon-fiber stuff look’s tacky. LMAO!!!!!
May 9th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
i love this color!!
May 9th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
too much carbon fiber
May 9th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
too much in the interior
May 9th, 2010 at 5:55 pm
@biffnacid i think on a torqe wrench you can set it to the the torqe and it clicks when you have reached it
May 9th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
i have seen a chevy with a escalade front end.
May 9th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
@biffnacid with torque wrenches you set the ft/lbs. to spec and then just tighten until the wrench clicks. it knows when you’ve reached the desired ft./lbs.
May 9th, 2010 at 7:28 pm
supercharger kit coming soon?
May 9th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
I think the CF is a bit much but I’ve seen far worse at car shows. I think I’ll do the underdrive pulleys though. thx for the how-to!
May 9th, 2010 at 10:06 pm
this carbon fiber “upgrade” is really a down grade. the point of carbon fiber is less weight on the car…this adds weight to the car…
May 9th, 2010 at 10:25 pm
looks very tacky
May 9th, 2010 at 11:28 pm
The carbon fiber looks sick it covers alot! of surface area!
May 10th, 2010 at 12:26 am
that fake CF right?
May 10th, 2010 at 12:38 am
like everybody else, the underdrive pulley upgrade is cool, but the cf inlays are a waste of money. Better to spend the money on some better tires, or suspension upgrades.
May 10th, 2010 at 12:43 am
@andrestnt No, that is real CF. Check the motorz tv website
May 10th, 2010 at 1:34 am
At 21:49 why were you checking that area near the mirror switch? What happened?
May 10th, 2010 at 1:39 am
how much does those CF cost?
May 10th, 2010 at 2:26 am

LOVE the carbon fiber look!
May 10th, 2010 at 3:52 am
love the under drive pulleys, and the billet pieces. And a little over bored on the CF less is more.
May 10th, 2010 at 6:50 am
Too much carbon fiber in my opinion. And do you actually use that motocross helmet in the background? Or is it for show? P.S. HA! cut springs. I remember doing that back in the mid 90′s when nobody made lowering springs for anything. That’s old school!
May 10th, 2010 at 6:53 am
And “closer to completion”? A true project car is never complete! lol
May 10th, 2010 at 8:27 am
Interesting pulley mod! And that carbon fiber interior looks great! Awesome!
May 10th, 2010 at 11:13 am
How much is the BHP gain?
May 10th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
If the carbon fiber doesn’t replace the OEM piece, then there’s not much point. Real or not. If you don’t like the plastic look, then you can always opt for a gloss black one. Saleen has it now for the ’10+ Mustang, but other aftermarket companies should have them once it catches on.
May 11th, 2010 at 10:45 pm
Ugh… That’s just a stupid amount of carbon fiber.
May 12th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
haha bs no way thats real CF
May 12th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
@frostedflake753 It has real carbon fiber inside the pieces… you can see it if you look at it. It’s not a print or some other cheesy material.
May 12th, 2010 at 4:03 pm
Yes, that’s my helmet from when I had my Banshee.
May 12th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
@mikeyboy236 yea, that’s a little too much, the aluminum are nice
May 12th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
@motorztv Nice! I use to have a Banshee. Now own a YFZ 450.
May 13th, 2010 at 9:13 pm
Nicely done! :) Jack
May 14th, 2010 at 7:34 pm
Sorry thats way too much CF makes it look like a kid owns the car and doesnt know what he is doing but awsome job on the pulleys, love your show and exspecaily enjoy the longer fuller episodes
May 17th, 2010 at 4:54 pm
You said its a project car right?? no project is complete without gears! you should do a gear install!!
May 31st, 2010 at 1:08 pm
great job on the UD pulleys… and hey, to each their own on the CF dash.. it looks good, and i’m sure no one has ever seen one installed unless they did it themselves already… keep up the awesome work Chris! awesome show!
June 2nd, 2010 at 7:55 pm
@motorztv Banshee ftmfw
June 7th, 2010 at 11:46 pm
Great piece on the underdrive pulleys, I’m just about to install a set from ASP Racing! I’m not a fan of the stick-on CF though. If I was going to go for CF it’d have to be the real deal full replacement pieces, like those from Carbign Craft.
July 3rd, 2010 at 11:34 am
I know that underdrive pulleys increase the power but do they harm the car ?
July 5th, 2010 at 6:48 am
what site did you order all that CF from?
July 14th, 2010 at 9:47 pm
way too damn much carbon fiber… looks pretty ugly
July 14th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
@lawrenceisapimp Check the Motorz TV website — look for the video and you’ll find a direct link. Thanks!
July 14th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
@Drifterzz89 No, they do not. They just re-distribute the power to different places.
July 15th, 2010 at 6:50 am
@motorztv Wow Thanks :D that helped alot
July 20th, 2010 at 7:46 am
OMG, I’m so excited about installing my carbon fiber kit to my 2010 Camaro!
July 24th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
@Drifterzz89 If you have a large sound system it may drain the battery and you may need to upgrade to a higher amperage alternator.
July 28th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
If you ended up changing your mind, could you remove the carbon fiber without damaging the interior?
July 28th, 2010 at 9:57 pm
@assault6622 Yes. You might have to use a little bit of a mild adhesive remover, but it will not damage the interior.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:55 am
@greencard yeh lol and its not even real carbon fiber xD
October 9th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
When you put that much “stick on” carbon fiber, it should all be custom made….
November 15th, 2010 at 10:18 pm
You made the removal of the crank pulley look effortless. I can’t break the 18mm bolt as the crank keeps turning even though the belt is still connected and the car is in gear. Any suggestions?
December 5th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
nice job guys
December 6th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
@motorztv I know for a fact that they are not recommended for stock 86-93 5.0′s due to severe voltage drop at idle due to the stock alternator not putting out enough amps at idle. Almost EVERYONE who installs underdrive pulleys on stock 5.0′s install the 130/150 amp alternator mod as well or you will have nearly nothing for power at idle At least that’s been my experience.

January 6th, 2011 at 11:27 pm
wait! you have to achieve top-dead-center before your remove or do anything with the pulley!

April 20th, 2011 at 8:30 pm
@BoycottGameStop u can get them for about 100 bucks off ebay tho :/ done it to all my cars
July 8th, 2011 at 4:35 pm
where can you order the carbon fiber dash board kit for and 01mustang gt? i really want to hear back from you guys , thanks!
July 8th, 2011 at 4:44 pm
@angelmtz4you Check with americanmuscle(dot)com — that’s where we got it for our 2008.
July 10th, 2011 at 11:53 am
that dash kit is such trash.. who wants to slap a bunch of stickers on the inside of their vehicle.. on top of which the carbon fiber fad will pass. The billet aluminum bits look amazing though!
July 11th, 2011 at 1:48 am
where can i buy a whole new dash for a 1988 honda civic hatchback???

July 12th, 2011 at 1:09 pm
And all of that would look good, if those parts were really reproduced or wrapped in carbon fiber. Way to rice out that interior…
July 12th, 2011 at 1:11 pm
@AwsomAlex I have a garbage can outside my shop with scraps of carbon fiber. It would look better. Please reconsider real carbon fiber pieces. Yes itl run you a couple of K for a full good interior, but its better than ricing out an already civic of a civic.
July 12th, 2011 at 1:15 pm
@StormTecify Its not a sick cf kit. Its a cheap ebay $100 kit. A sick kit would cost thousands. I would know. I sell them…
August 1st, 2011 at 9:45 am
ur using steeda pulleys arent you. ur killin me with the steeda products man. american muscle has roush pulleys on sale for august at 199.00 and steedas are 214.00, what would be the best way to go?
August 1st, 2011 at 9:48 am
@wonderbreadkw Either one will be fine. There is probably little difference.
August 29th, 2011 at 5:13 am
I wonder, what do you do with all those parts that you remove? Like the bumpers, driveshaft, brake rotors etc. I’ve upgraded parts on my car, and don’t know what to do with them. I don’t want to throw them out, because they are perfectly good parts.
August 29th, 2011 at 9:09 am
@suddnstar CraigsList :)
September 2nd, 2011 at 10:49 am
a cam or stiff springs make the dash panels fall off.however the chrome parts such as the cup holder trim, ebrake handle, shifter trim, etc are pretty good.
September 22nd, 2011 at 7:52 pm
not a big fan of the carbon fiber look. billet aluminum looks great, but the carbon fiber in such a large amount just looks tacky. i think it would have been a bit better with carbon fiber on the center of the console around the stereo and climate control systems, and then more billet on the rest of the dash and center console.

Where did you get all the carbon fiber interior for your mustang? Do you have any idea if there is similiar interior for a ford cougar -99? Oh and great videos, the videos has given me many new ideas for customising my cougar. :)
February 18th, 2012 at 7:27 pm
@scout6686 It has a 3M adhesive on the back, plus you add 3M adhesion promoter first which keeps it on for the long haul.
March 1st, 2012 at 12:52 am
@motorztv thanks a lot seriously
March 16th, 2012 at 4:25 pm
hey is it possibly to convert a 2007 mustang gt to a 2007-2008 mustang gt500kr? by installing hood and frount bumper?
March 20th, 2012 at 7:08 am
the carbon pieces alone gave the mustang an extra 50hp because it’s so light…:)

IMO it’s too much carbon but you can do it different ways. For instance in my mustang I didnt use the carbon pieces for the dash at all or on the steering wheel. I also didnt use it ON the radio. I simply did the door handles, and center console and around the radio. Giving three textures inside my car, aluminum, flat black, and carbon fiber. All of one material is too much. To each their own

I think that’s a bit overkill with the carbon fiber and is there another way to avoid braking any original parts when it comes to installing billit pieces? I feel that after you pulled those selectors off, they just fall right out….no way!
