Episode Notes
This episode is 100% install! No additional segments were added, just so we could cover the entire installation process in one episode!
Thanks to Jose Contreras from 3dCarbon for stopping by our shop and helping us with the installation.
For our wheel and tire combination, we went with a set of Foose Design (MHT Wheels) “Nitrous” wheels in a 20×8.5 (front) and 20×10 (rear), wrapped with “INVO” tires from Nitto with a 255/30R20 (front) and 285/35R20 (rear).
Special thanks goes out to Wet Works Garage for their excellent paint work on our body kit.
Product Information
Our main install segment features the Boy Racer styling kit. This is the most dramatic GT styling kit for the Ford Mustang that 3dCarbon offers. It’s an aggressively sculpted front bumper that flows into larger fender flares. The Boy Racer kit makes the Mustang look like it’s moving, even when it’s not. All of the kit’s components are manufactured in flexible high pressure injected urethane and will require prepping, priming and painting prior to installation.
The weight of the Boy Racer body kit is 65 lbs.
For more information, just click the products on the right!
Music
This episode features music from COLDWEST. “Snakeskinner”, “Ignition”, and a custom song for the Motorz Intro.

those 90 degree offset adapters are cool, never seen those before. You were right about the one inch drop (my comment on your last vid was it wasn’t low enough), lookin good!
April 25th, 2010 at 6:56 am
Great show Chris! The wheels look great, but the body kit is too cheesy. If you do a Camaro, please only add tasteful accessories. Car looks great, aside from the kit.

Great video! I had doubts about putting a body kit on my mustang. But after seeing this video and how easy it is to install one, I just might buy one! Yet another great video Mr. Duke!

That’s a good looking body kit! A great idea to invite professionals like Jose, gives a lot of valuable practical advice and also adds some extra spice to the show!

Great show,as usual.I have the same wheels(in black)on my 2010.Now explain how you get air in the tires. The valve stems are located on the inside of the wheels and with the TPS stems(no shorty’s available)they hit the break calipers with the caps on.Had to remove my valve stem caps just to get enough clearance.Other than that, they look great!

April 28th, 2010 at 10:00 pm
Great ep! Very detailed and I'm so glad you mentioned touchup paint. No one ever knows that adding body kits sometimes stuff gets rubbed and or scuffed.
April 28th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
Ok, finished watching the entire thing, it was a new experience seeing you working with a representative from a manufacturer, a little stiff but you were being very humble and I'm sure they appreciated that. I'm sure with practice it will become more fun and natural. That said.. my word this kit is alot of stickers, it looks great but I'm worried about how long all those components and decals are going to stay secured and rattle free.
P.S the facebook connect button doesn't appear to be working.

April 29th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
@35057 oh haha, to my comment on prices?i just wanted to know. i dont have a stang, im 16 i have an 06 charger im already saving every dime for my next car after high school ive already saved up 10k and by the end of school ill prob have 15k plus my bro will give me 10k when i graduate (he has a GTR) and my mom will give me 5k my dad prob wont get me anything since he gave me his charger so he could buy a vette. 20k plus trade in of my car would be a good downpayment
April 30th, 2010 at 3:21 am
I love the look of the Boy Racer kit, but how long did this installation actually take?
It looks complicated somewhat. Are most body kits this involved? Is this one considered to be ‘easy’ as far as body kits go?
April 30th, 2010 at 8:53 am
@pondmatter It took the two of us a full day, but we were also filming which tends to delay things a bit. I would think that a couple of people could get it done in a day. I don’t have much experience with installing body kits to answer the rest of your questions, but this one is a full body kit so it is quite involved.

@rtisunit Don’t know how you saved up 10k at the age of 16 as most states don’t allow us to work until 15. Reasonable amount to have though. Don’t rely to much on your parents. Unless you pay it in one swoop your car note will be high unless you co-pay. If you have around 8-10k left to pay off expect $250-290 car note to pay ea/month. Insurance will be well over $300. if you are on your parents and they are going to make you pay for insurance it will be 180-250 ea/mth. Just trying to help you.

how strong is the 3m tape? does it actually stick really really good, or will it come off after i rains a couple of times? also, i was wondering how long do those side skirts stay on with 3m tape and how long do those last? and what if someone accidentally steps on it? will it fall off?

@TheiTouchKid I know of 2 two Mustang GTs with this kit on it and both are fine. The 3M tape holds really well (if applied correctly), and many pieces (such as the bottom skirts) are screwed on.

Hey bud.. Firstly I think your videos are real helpful and amazing quality n truely informative. I really need your expertise on installing widebody fender flares for a 2003 a4 sedan (B6 is what they called).. I was going with the widebody look and found some videos of people doing wide flares installation by cutting the factory fenders first then molding it… Do I really need to cut the factory fender to have the flares put and bigger rims to match the extra space so the tires dont rub? Ty

@brucekirk89 This kit was installed almost a year ago and hasn’t shown any signs of coming off. The main pieces (as you’ll see in this episode) are screwed on while other pieces are pressed on with 3M tape and an adhesion promoter. It can be poorly done, I’m sure, but this kit was installed correctly.

I finally installed my body kit, but due to a lack of funds, I used duct tape as the adhesive. It actually worked great until I was driving down the road on a really hot day… For some reason it all started falling off on me and I ended up running most of it over! Is there any advice you could give me? ha ha j/k…sorry I had to write this LOL ;)

@suddnstar same here. When I was looking at getting a shaker hood installed, I’m sure I could have cut the hole myself, but felt more comfortable paying someone to do it. That way, if anything got messed up, someone else could cover the cost to fix it.
