Motorz shows you how to lower a 2008 Ford Mustang GT (S197) using a FR3 handling pack from Ford Racing.

Suspension modifications are always a daunting task, typically involve special tools, and a whole lot of time. In this episode we show you how to lower a Ford Mustang and improve the handling by installing a FR3 handling pack from Ford Racing. Using mostly tools that you probably already have, it’s possible to do this in your garage over the weekend in two days.
With the exception of the strut tower brace, the FR3 package doesn’t add any new parts to your vehicle, rather it upgrades Ford’s stock parts with new ones from Ford Racing to lower your Mustang overall by 1-inch. This includes your front and rear sway bars, springs and shocks.
Also in this episode we feature another Letterz segment, the return of the Partz segment, and another quick tip in our Tipz segment.

Our main install segment features the FR3 Handling Pack (p/n M-FR3-MGT) from Ford Racing.
The Partz segment features the StealthBox from JL Audio, differential and transmission pan covers from PML, the BedTred from BedRug, and the Tipz segment shows how to install a trunk release button from Silver Horse Racing on our S197 Ford Mustang GT.

Another great episode, good save on almost taking out the camera with the strut! Once again you make it look way easy, and I appreciate you A) using locktite… B) telling people to re torque everything after the break in period.

Cool episode. But, Now this is just my opinion…. only 1 inch? It needs to be lower! lol, as far a lowering for looks goes, i like my cars barely able to make it up the driveway :-) (Or airbags/hydraulics, or any other form of movable suspension) I was going to say something about how people will need to get it re aligned, but you covered that at the end.

Sure beats the heck out of cutting springs hahaha
Well I hate to compare it to that even, it just seems like in high school thats what everyone does sacrifice handling and comfort just to lower the vehicle. I actually never cut the springs on my ride because I hate it but man I’ve helped alot of people do it after trying to explain to them why it was a bad idea for a half hour.
Its nice to have a vehicle with a dedicated factory performance division.

This is defiantly a very thorough and well instructed video if someone can’t do it from this they don’t need to be working on cars.

@salemcripple 1″ is the perfect amount for the 20′s we put on in the next episode :) In the next episode we also make some other modifications that would make it impossible to drive if it was any lower than it is now!

wow the rear suspension suck balls no wonder the car handles like a boat..the shock tower should reach above to were the rear speakers go. then the car would be more rigid. not bad though

What about Haynes Manuals?
I know on my import gearheads have been saying they have suqeaking coming from the polyurethane bushings. Their solution? Use teflon tape. I think that was interesting that you didn’t do the teflon trick, however I think with the reservoir of extra grease probably solves that problem. The swaybar they had (a Whiteline) doesn’t seem to have that estra port to pump the grease into.

How does this compare with the Roush suspension kit that costs $1,498.21? The Roush one is supposed to get up to 1.0g but there weren’t much details about the Ford Racing one on their website.

Wow very nice instructional video! I purchased an 05 Mustang GT with the functional Shaker Hood Scoop but the down side is the automatic transmission. I’ve read online about swapping it out with a manual but seems a bit complicated. If possible, can you do an instructional video that shows how to correctly swap out transmissions?

Hey guys, do you know a way to make the area under the middle of the strut tower brace look a bit more presentable? I mean for competitions and shows? You can eliminate having to rent/buy/get the spring compressor if you upgrade the strut mount and leave the stock struts assembled. The GT units have had issues and upgrading to a GT500 part is a no-brainer.
