This episode (S03E04) originally aired on MavTV on February 28th, 2010. This version contains the entire show, but with fewer commercials.

Advanced Flow Engineering (aFe)
Episode Notes
These two products help improve both horsepower and torque, and are relatively easy to install.
aFe’s cold air intake kit gives you great sound, plus a boost in torque and horsepower. The electric fan from Flex-A-Lite also helps increase torque and horsepower, and takes a huge load off your engine by eliminating the cooling fan. This results in less load on your engine, and as a result improves fuel economy. We noticed an extra 2-3 MPG on this truck as a result of installing the Flex-A-Lite electric fan.
Also in this episode we feature the 2nd installation of this season’s Letterz segment, and the return of the Partz segment.
Product Information
In this episode we feature products from Flex-A-Lite and aFe. For more information, just look to the right!
Music
This episode features music from COLDWEST. “Snakeskinner”, “Ignition”, and a custom song for the Motorz Intro.

Great stuff… which was better from a hp/torque standpoint?

Great work once again :)

should do some tuner stuff too. That would complete the gamut of custom cars.

great shows, thanks from Ireland. P.s welcome back!

The intake (especially when combined with an aftermarket exhaust) makes a noticeable difference, however the electric fan (by far) has made the biggest difference in any bolt-on modification I have added to the truck. My MPG has increased by 2-3, and I immediately noticed more low-end torque. I highly recommend getting one and getting that huge fan off your motor!

22:17 Whoops! Paint chip repair tutorial in near future… About Magnaflows and Flowmasters. I put a Magnaflow in my import and that damn thing is so much louder than factory. It sits under the trunk in the back but there is still that dreaded muffler drone in the cabin I can’t stand and at 250-300 rpms it’s so loud inside. I only got a little bit more horsepower and a little more miles to the gallon, but sometimes I think I should have paid the extra money to go with a Flowmaster. I heard the

Delta series Flowmasters have a more subtle sound, but as I didn’t put it on the vehicle, I don’t know. I’d like to hear other people’s thoughts on this. It’s really hard to get comparisons. Even online, it’s very hard to.

Hey Chris, Why don’t you solder instead of crimping?
March 29th, 2010 at 3:39 pm
@21mejia25 It’s not always necessary to do so, and in this case we were following the manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions which called for the use of butt connectors (supplied by the manufacturer). If used properly, butt connectors work great! I’ve never had one fail on me.

Yes I agree butt connectors are decent. I don’t want to tell you how to do things, I just want to express my opinion. Since you’re working with a device that is crucial to your engine wouldn’t you want to settle for a solder and heat shrink? I don’t know how good of a seal butt connectors create, but you can always run the risk of moisture entering the connecting, which wouldn’t be good. Ultimately Its up to you on what to do. I like the, keep it up!

What model was the electric fan?
June 19th, 2010 at 10:47 am
I just bought an ’07 F-150, and haven’t had much time to play around with it. This video was awesome for helping install my new Intake. Thanks!
July 18th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
whats is the felxalite product number used on this F150? Why connect it to the AC Clutch? How do you set the temperature on the variable speed control? and finally, how do you check if the wire into the AC clutch is + or -?
December 11th, 2010 at 3:58 am
LOL I laughed so hard when you “scratched” on the fan at the beginning!

You should do this with a 2004 ram 1500.
June 22nd, 2011 at 2:41 am
this should work for a 2008 ford f150 4.6l v8 right?
July 7th, 2011 at 8:20 pm
IT would Be Nice to see you do each step, not skip the step. Telling us and showing us is 1 thing….

@sherrytucker Sure, we always try to show each step and sometimes it’s not possible for whatever reason such as not being able to get the camera down in a certain spot. Thanks for watching!
July 28th, 2011 at 12:35 pm
wasn’t your seccond episode installing an airraid intake on this truck? what happened to that?
July 30th, 2011 at 10:06 pm
How much did this increase mpg?
August 30th, 2011 at 10:23 pm
@javie4vr The air conditioning system adds considerable demand on the engine, requiring the fans to be on much sooner than without. That particular wire triggers that.

Where did you buy the fan kit? Also, do you know the part # off hand? I have a 05 with the 4.6L and I was looking to do this to my truck.
November 30th, 2011 at 11:05 pm
Does anyone know the Flex-A-Lite part #? I want to buy that one he used but I have had not luck finding it.
December 5th, 2011 at 4:34 pm
I love the show, but im disappointed I never see any 87 to 96 model trucks. Like mods to the old 300 inline. Thats one of the best motors ford ever put out. There are lots of things you guys could put on your show. Like the E fan mod, and converting to mass air system.

An one more thing. What is the trigger for these fans to engage? I know that you hook it up to the a/c compressor, but what if you’re not running the compressor? What triggers it to run then

The thermostat on the control module for the fans. It’s just stealing power from the compressor, it’s not dependent on it being on.
